Q: I just signed up and opened an account with you, then what?
A: You should create your HTML files and use FTP to upload them to our server. And then, you can login to our "Member Login" interface and register a new domain (or transfer domain) there, and pay for the service.
Q: I just uploaded some HTML files to your server, but can not see them using the browser, what happen?
A: Please check the following:
(1). The HTML should be in the form of ***.html or ***.htm;
(2). HTML files should be uploaded into /home/***/public_html, where *** is your user name;
(3). In your home directory, replace the default "index.html" or "index.htm" with your own version;
(4). Use the domain http://***.name2host.com, where "***" is your user name;
(5). If you do not have file "index.html" or "index.htm", you need to specify the file name to visit.
Note: the searching order in /home/***/public_html is:
index.html, index.htm, default.html, index.cgi, index.php, index.php3
Q: How to choose password?
A: Your password must be English letters and digits (< 16) without any special characters. It is case sensitive.
Q: I signed up a few days ago, why I have not received any "Welcome Email"?
A: Most likely, you entered a wrong email address. In this case, please signup again using a valid email address.
Q: I just changed my password, when it becomes effective?
A: It needs a few hours.
Q: Is the file name case sensitive?
A: Yes.
Q: If I already have an account (username) and domain with Name2Host, can I add other domains under my existing username or do I have to open another account with different username?
A: If you add 2 domains under the same account, they will point to the same web site - this is by design to allow people having mydomain.com and .net pointing to the same web site.
If you want the 2 domains pointing to different web sites, you need to open separated account for each domain. This also applys if you have more domains.
Q: Can you recommend a place to submit to search engines?
A: http://www.addme.com is a good place to try. |
