Q: How do I get the POP3 email boxes that come with my account?
A: There is no default mailbox. You need to use our "Member Login" interface, and choose function "Add new pop3 mailbox", and setup your own mailbox.
Q: How to setup the POP3 email using, say, Outloook Express?
A: Let's say your domain is http://www.yourname.com, and your username is "john", you should use the following parameters to setup the email tool (i.e. MS Outlook):
email address: john@yourname.com;
pop3 server: pop.yourname.com;
username: john@yourname.com;(or Account Name for Outlook Express)
smtp server: smtp.yourname.com.
Note, the username should be "john@yourname.com, the whole thing, NOT just "john"!!!
Q: Can I change the password for the POP3 Mailbox?
A: Sure you can . Go to "Member Login" and choose "Change pop3 mailbox password".
Q: We opened 10 POP3 Mailbox for our employee to use , can each individual manage his/her own POP3 Mailbox?
A: Everyone can use their own mailbox , but if they want to change the password of the mailbox , they all need to do it though "Member Login" . In other words , you need to know your Name2Host account password to do it.
Q: Please give an example for setting up POP3 Email box.
A: This is an example to use Outlook Express under MS Windows XP.
Let' s say your email user is "john" and your domain is "xyz.com":
Under menu "Tools" select "Accounts", select "Add" and "Mail";
Display name: (choose a name);
E-mail address: john@xyz.com;
Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) Server: pop.xyz.com;
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.xyz.com;
Account Name: john@xyz.com;
Password: (the password we send you by email).
Note that, the "Account name" is "john@xyz.com", not just "john".
Q: Do you support "Mail Forward" and "Mail Collection"?
A: Yes. To set them up, use "Member Login" and choose "Mail forwarding and collection".
Q: When I try to send out email, I got error message like "sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts" , what should I do?
A: You need to turn on "SMTP Authentication", or "Server Authentication" or somthing like that. If you are using MS OutLook Express, here is what to do:
Select Tools->Accounts->Mail->Properties->Servers, and then in "Outgoing Mail Server" box, check "My Server requires authentication".
Q: I have trouble to connect to your server using Outlook Express, what could be wrong?
A: Please note the following:
(1). The account name (or username) should be "john@yourname.com", not just "john";
(2). The password is case sensitive;
(3). Please do not use secure connection.
If you still have trouble, please check if your PC can resolve "pop.yourname.com" and "smtp.youtname.com" by trying to ping them under MS-DOS Prompt":
ping pop.yourname.com
ping smtp.yourname.com
ping yourname.com
It should retrun the same IP.
Q: My domain "mydomain.com" is hosted with Name2Host, I can receive emails using "pop.mydomain.com" without any problem, however, when I try to send out emails using "smtp.mydomain,com", it always says: "The connection to the server has failed." What is wrong?
A: Some ISPs are blocking "port 25" to protect against "spam". (Earthlink/Mindspring, AT&T, MSN, Verizon, Bellsouth, Roadrunner, and most cable and DSL companies are doing this).
The way around this is to use some ISPs who allow the out going emails, or to set your SMTP settings to, for exmaple: "smtp.aol.com" rather than "smtp.mydomain.com". After doing that, you will be sending mail though your ISP's servers rather than ours. This doesn't change the way your mail is delivered. Your "from" address and your "reply to" address will remain the same. |
